About the Chapter

Alpha Nu Sigma (ANΣ) is the honors branch of the American Nuclear Society. Exceptional students from the University of Michigan's Nuclear Engineering & Radiological Sciences department are invited to join the society. The top quarter of Juniors and top third of Seniors and Graduate students are eligible for induction each academic year.

This chapter fulfills its service mission through workshops, tutoring, and review sessions.

We host two to four workshops every semester. Workshops cover technical topics (like software version control or Python programming) and non-technical topics (like applying to grad school or summer internships). The topics are selected based on NERS students' needs, but are available to the public. Workshop funding is provided by the Engineering Student Government at UM. Our goal is to help students jump-start their professional development with practical skills and knowledge that don't fit into the curriculum.

Alpha Nu Sigma offers free tutoring for NERS students. If you have questions about homework or subject material, please contact alphanusigma-officers@umich.edu to request a volunteer tutor.

Alpha Nu Sigma also facilitates end-of-semester review sessions for NERS students. These sessions are student-led. This program is new and will be conducted on a trial basis.
